Hello!

I'm Sophie, founder of Harris & Rose Interiors, maker and teacher of all things soft furnishings.

The main workshop is located in a stable conversion on my parents arable farm, just seven miles from Cirencester Gloucestershire.

In 2019, I moved to London with my husband.  As a result of the move, I now take commissions from both locations, making the most of town and country!

From our home, I have a small workroom where I make all of the roman blinds and any smaller commissions, whilst larger jobs are completed back at our rural HQ.

In 2020 I launched an online roman blind course which has been a huge success, this was followed by the online curtain making course in 2021.  It is so rewarding to be able to share the skill of making your own soft furnishings far and wide!

Do sign up to the newsletter to be kept in the loop about courses and commissions, and hopefully our paths will cross one day!

A bit more about me...

Whilst on my gap year in Australia I met up with a friend of my Aunt’s who is a real craft maker, she took me to the most enormous haberdashery you could imagine.  From that moment I knew I wanted to work with textiles.

Sewing is in my genes. My great grandmother, Vera Rose (that's where the Rose part comes in!), was a glove maker for Dents. My own Grandmother, Vera's daughter, used to make curtains for my dolls house.  Each tiny pair had velcro on the windows, so I could swap them between rooms!  She was also a primary school teacher, a profession I always thought I would pursue.

Growing up I always helped my Mum make curtains for our own house on the lounge floor so thought I’d head in that direction as it was something I'd enjoyed.

After an intensive training course I set up Harris & Rose in 2013 and began making bespoke soft furnishings for family and friends.  My business snowballed by word of mouth and time has just flown by!

Since then, I have worked on some great projects. One of my first commissions was for a barn conversion, starting off with 4 meter long curtains was certainly a challenge! I have almost come full circle now, with the addition of my online teaching courses. It is so rewarding to share my skill with people and see the satisfaction and pride they gain from learning a new skill which they can then repeat time and time again!

Thank you for visiting my website, and please do get in touch if you have any questions!
